Severity: normal
An upgrade of exim on 19th January replaced my /etc/email-addresses file
without warning. This is used to re-write the headers of outgoing
messages, and as a result over a month of outgoing mail has been
disappearing into the ether without me knowing about it! Could you
check that this file is correctly marked as a config file?
Thanks,
Tim.

Indeed, the file is still marked as a config file; if that wasn't respected
then it may have been due to a bug in dpkg, but not exim.
Either way, there's been no activity in this bug for over three years, so
I'm closing it on the assumption that it's either fixed or was caused by a
gremlin. :)

Adam
