Package: lilo
Version: 1:22.8-7
Severity: important
I have a newly installed system running on a raid-1 with only 1 out of 2
disks present currently - only md0 is used for the system, md1 is completely
unused:
md1 : active raid0 hda3[0]
54195200 blocks 64k chunks
md0 : active raid1 hda1[0]
3903680 blocks [2/1] [U_]
lilo.conf excerpt:
boot=/dev/md0
root=/dev/md0
raid-extra-boot=mbr
in that situation, lilo refuses to install:
Setting up lilo (1:22.8-7) ...
Running lilo...
Warning: LBA32 addressing assumed
Fatal: Not all RAID-1 disks are active; use '-H' to install to active disks only
dpkg: error processing lilo (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
lilo
If I manually run "lilo -H", everything works as expected. However, dpkg
can't run lilo successfully, and so the package stays in "partially
configured" state. It seems that there is no way to put the equivalent of
the "-H" switch in the lilo.conf file.
On etch, installation on a degraded RAID-1 array (where the missing disk was
then added later) worked without problems.
