Hi,

I can't seem to type characters that are obtained with Compose, if one
of the Composed keys needs AltGr to be typed, in Gtk+ applications.

  For instance: typing À (capital latin letter A with grave) can be
done with Compose-`-A. On French keyboards, ` is not a dead key, and
it's obtained through AltGr-è, where è is on the same key as the 7 on
qwerty keyboards (above Y and U). So I press Compose (which is
located on my right Windows key), then I reach for the mode-shifting
AltGr. And I get a beep right when I press AltGr, even before my
other finger reaches for the è/7/` key. Which means I can't type À in
Gtk+ apps.

  Pieces of information you may be interested in:

- it's probably not an X problem: I can type that Compose-`-A combo in
Emacs, I can type it in Xterm, I can't type it in gnome-terminal or
xchat or epiphany;

- I tried it the other way (Compose-A-`), but again, as soon as I hit
AltGr, beep, and no À;

- other Compose sequences work, for instance "Ç" (capital latin letter
C with cedilla, Compose-,-C) and "»" (angular double quote pointing to
the right, Compose->->, with > being Shift-<);

- I was just told on IRC that Compose can also be obtained by pressing
Shift-AltGr. It does indeed work as Compose, but the problem I'm
describing still exists;

- this is an up-to-date (as of 2003-09-11 before dinstall) Sid box.

Roland.

According to upstream, this is fixed in 2.16. I'm closing the bug, please reopen
it if you still have the issue.

Thanks,
