Package: r-base
Version: 2.10.0~20091019
Severity: important
Justification: fails to build from source

During a debuild run pdfetex is handed the full path to the texi file.
Since the source package has a ~ character, pdfetex brings up a
error console. See:

man pdfetex|less -p caveat

The easiest solution would be to rename the version 2.10.0-20091019.

Many thanks for maintaining R, it's the bee's knee's.

The bug is in texinfo. Feel free to re-open and re-assign if you must. It is
_not_ an R bug. and I _cannot_ do what you propose as shown below.

Won't happen as it breaks how dpkg sort packages:

    2.10.0-1 > 2.10.0~20091019-1 i.e. you have an upgrade path

but

    2.10.0-1 < 2.10.0-20091019 i.e you do not -- BAD!

If this bugs you, stay with the R in testing.

The issue is known, I filed at least one if not two bugreports to texidvi and
Kurt (from R Core) and I have discussed it at lengths. Kurt assures me that
Karl Berry has the fix for a future texinfo (for texi2pdf) release.

Allow me to pass the thanks on to Kurt for the R Core team. R is the bee's
knee's.
