Package: geda-gschem
Version: 20010722-4
Severity: wishlist

This bug is several wishlist items. See
http://www.blars.org/blarslirc/blarslirc.ps to see what I am refering
to.

1. Generic NPN and PNP transistor symbols should be avilable. Using
"2N3904" then calling it "2N4401" in the parts list is realy ugly.

2. It seems that not all the parts were drawn to the same scale. Why
are LEDs much smaller than other diodes? Transistors shouldn't be
smaller than resistors.

3. Part lables should not rotate when rotating the parts. It looks ugly
to have some parts labled one way and others the oposite.

4. Default zoom is too small. I can't even tell a "2N3904" is a
transistor at the default zoom.

Really 4 "bugs", not one.., but I'll address the issues here and explain
my rational for closing the bug..

1. gEDA _has_ discrete NPN and PNP transistor symbols

(npn-1.sym, npn-2.sym, npn-3.sym)
(pnp-1.sym, pnp-2.sym, pnp-3.sym)

2. LED size.. can't fix this, as it would break all existing schematics.
IE. upstream WONTFIX.

Transistors _aren't_ smaller than resistors.. so I'm not sure what that
complaint was about.

You are of course free to produce and use you're own symbols with
whatever proportions you desire, but we can't go changing the sizes of
those in the shipped libraries.

3. If we didn't rotate the labels, the text wouldn't flow properly. This
would require attribute placement to be taken over by an autoplace
heuristic. Upstream WONTFIX.

There is an attribute auto-placement feature (found in the
system-gschemrc) which might be persuaded to achieve what you want
though.

4. This is fixed. gschem zooms to fit the size of the loaded file. Since
new pages now have a title-block placed, this gives something sensible
to set the scale by.
