When a catalogue of pictures contains images with names like "Stage de
plongée aux Glénan, arrêt à la buvette.jpg", IE and Opera fail to
display the pictures.

The reason is that Opera and IE (in some releases at least) have a
default setup which is "use UT8 for encoding URL". The result is that
for them the links are broken, but other brothers (mozilla, lynx, etc)
are ok.

A solution is to explain the users how to disable this option so they
can see the pictures.

Maybe this problem can be prevented by telling the browsers which
charset to use by overwriting the server's one.
Another solution could be to strip/unaccentuate the "special" chars
(which are normal for some of us :), but it could be a problem as the
files names will be changed. If there are 2 files, let say "ééé.jpg" and
"eee.jpg", we could loose one, and that would be Bad.

You filled the bug http://bugs.debian.org/248169 in Debian BTS
against the package phpix. I'm closing it at *unstable*, but it will
remain open for older distributions.

For more information about this package's removal, read
http://bugs.debian.org/558175. That bug might give the reasons why
this package was removed and suggestions of possible replacements.

Don't hesitate to reply to this mail if you have any question.

Thank you for your contribution to Debian.
