Package: kvm
Version: 85+dfsg-4
Severity: important
I want to run bacula-sd in a VM with SCSI controller assigned to manage
a tape library.
I build 2.6.30 from kernel source (from kernel-archive.buildserver.net)
and compiled kvm-source 85+dfsg-4 to avoid Debian bug #531829.
I followed
http://www.linux-kvm.org/page/How_to_assign_devices_with_VT-d_in_KVM for
unbinding the driver in the host machine and started the VM as
kvm -drive file=bacula-sd.img,if=virtio,boot=on -net
nic,macaddr=DE:AD:BE:EF:02:04,model=virtio -net
tap,script=/exports/vm_disks/qemu-vlan30 -m 256 -drive
file=/dev/sanserver1/bacula-spool,if=virtio -pcidevice host=05:01.0
-pcidevice host=05:01.1
On the console I get
Option ROM size b800 exceeds available space
Option ROM size b800 exceeds available space
BUG: kvm_destroy_phys_mem: invalid parameters (slot=-1)
BUG: kvm_destroy_phys_mem: invalid parameters (slot=-1)
and in the VM (up-to-date Lenny, kernel 2.6.26-2-amd64) I get
PCI: Cannot allocate resource region 0 of device 0000:00:08.0
PCI: Cannot allocate resource region 3 of device 0000:00:08.0
...
Kernel panic - not syncing: Waiting TID List traversal
Without -pcidevice the VM works just fine without any error messages,
with one device I get the error messages once and also a Kernel panic.
lspci gives the following:
lspci -v -s 05:01.0

lspci -v -s 05:01.1
05:01.1 SCSI storage controller: Adaptec ASC-39320A U320 (rev 10)

Capabilities: [dc] Power Management version 2
Capabilities: [a0] MSI: Enable+ Count=1/2 Maskable- 64bit+

Kernel driver in use: pci-stub
Is there an option to increase the ROM size? Is the bug maybe fixed
upstream?
Thanks in advance!

You filled the bug http://bugs.debian.org/538184 in Debian BTS
against the package kvm. I'm closing it at *unstable*, but it will
remain open for older distributions.
For more information about this package's removal, read
http://bugs.debian.org/562620. That bug might give the reasons why
this package was removed and suggestions of possible replacements.
Don't hesitate to reply to this mail if you have any question.
Thank you for your contribution to Debian.
