Munin do not work out of the box after installing it. It produces an
email from cron every 5 minutes like this:
From: [email protected] (Cron Daemon)
To: [email protected]
Subject: Cron <mu...@tjener> if [ -x /usr/bin/munin-cron ]; then
/usr/bin/munin-cron; fi
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8
X-Cron-Env: <MAILTO=root>
X-Cron-Env: <SHELL=/bin/sh>
X-Cron-Env: <HOME=/var/lib/munin>
X-Cron-Env: <PATH=/usr/bin:/bin>
X-Cron-Env: <LOGNAME=munin>
Sender: CronDaemon <[email protected]>
cp: cannot create regular file `/var/www/munin/': Is a directory
[ERROR] Could not copy style.css from /etc/munin/templates to /var/www/munin
The fix is to create /var/www/munin/ and make sure the munin user have
write access to it (I used "chown munin /var/www/munin").
Please make munin work out of the box without any configuration, like
it used to work in Lenny.
I discovered this when testing Debian Edu based on Squeeze, where
munin is automatically configured using sitesummary.
Happy hacking,

It does.

No. Please read NEWS.Debian.
We moved the web directory to /var/cache/munin/www to comply with FHS.

The Debian Edu configuration is broken.
cheers,
Holger, wearing his munin hat pretending not to know Debian Edu ;-)
