Package: pine
Version: 4.62-1
Severity: normal
Normally pine deletes its postponed-folder when that folder is empty. If
you use Maildirs it will delete the cur, new, and tmp subdirectories but
will leave the top-level directory intact (it's possible that this is due to
Pine not deleting files it didn't create such as the Courier IMAP header
cache, keywords, etc. files which are present on our system and thus not
being able to remove the postponed-folder because it's not empty).
After this has happened you will get an error any time you attempt to
postpone a message; manually recreating the normal Maildir
subdirectories will solve the problem.
As a workaround making the parent folder unwritable appears to solve
this but there may be other side-effects from this.
Due to the fact that many people use Maildirs for IMAP services I'd
prefer that Pine not delete the empty postponed-folder Maildir so it
won't confuse IMAP clients which cache a folder list or use IMAP
subscriptions.

The pine package has just been removed from unstable and will soon be
removed from testing.
I'm now checking old pine bugs. Some of them will be reassigned to
alpine, but as this one is pine-specific (as alpine does not have
maildir support yet), I'm just closing it with this message.
Thanks.
