Package: nvidia-kernel-source
Version: 1.0.8178-1
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks unrelated software

A lot of patches, no usable solution yet :(

might shed some light. Still the only working solution I found is:
back to the nv driver. No acceleration :( but rock solid.

I experience the same problems with the '-legacy' package.
Same bad behaviour with the 2.6.15-<whatever> packages :(

I'm fairly sure that this problem (from four years ago) was long since
resolved upstream. The first thread there is to a lot of patches that
have been incorporated into the regular release some time back. I'm
therefore going to go ahead and close this bug, although please do re-open
it if you're still having trouble.
