Package: nvidia-kernel-source
Version: 1.0.4496-2
Severity: normal

I see this while building:

You appear to be compiling the NVIDIA kernel module with
a compiler different from the one that was used to compile
the running kernel. We are going to use the compiler that
were used to build the kernel with the specified headers.
  (if specified in KSRC/include/linux/compile.h)

I do not condone this. Even though it is doubtful that people will
use different compilers, the running kernel is definitely not always
the kernel, for which the module is built. You should check the
compiler used to compile $KSRC.

KSRC is, btw, not replace in the above message. Might be confusing.

This bug was opened nearly 7 years ago. Meanwhile the 2.4 kernel series is no
longer supported in Debian and with 2.6 kernels and several generations of
new nvidia drivers the way of building the modules has significantly changed,
probably solving this bug on the way. Therefore I'm now closing this report.
feel free to open a new bug report if you still experience problems in the
current stable release "lenny" or in unstable.

Andreas
