--- Begin Message ---Package: texlive-latex-base Version: 2009-9 Severity: important Hi! pdflatex produces files of the wrong page size when I use \documentclass[a5paper]{book} The result is a PDF with an a4 page size, but with the text occupying the top left portion of the page, corresponding to the size of an a5 page. This is the case when I open the PDF in either Evince or Xpdf. When I compile the same tex-file using 'latex', the resulting DVI file is fine when I open it in Evince. I have included a minimal latex file below to reproduce the problem. The bug report is marked as important, because it would be if this is the case for all users of nonstandard page sizes. When compiling it with pdflatex, I get the following output (when compiling a file called Doc.tex): This is pdfTeX, Version 3.1415926-1.40.10 (TeX Live 2009/Debian) restricted \write18 enabled. entering extended mode (./Doc.tex LaTeX2e <2009/09/24> Babel <v3.8l> and hyphenation patterns for english, usenglishmax, dumylang, noh yphenation, loaded. Best regards Torquil Sørensen -- Package-specific info: If you report an error when running one of the TeX-related binaries (latex, pdftex, metafont,...), or if the bug is related to bad or wrong output, please include a MINIMAL example input file that produces the error in your report. Don't forget to also include minimal examples of other files that are needed, e.g. bibtex databases. Often it also helps to include the logfile. Please, never send included pictures! If your example file isn't short or produces more than one page of output (except when multiple pages are needed to show the problem), you can probably minimize it further. The output driver does not know about the page size, how should it if you do not tell him. Plan LaTeX does not have an idea about pdf page sizes etc. You have to use one of the geometry setting packages liek geometry or whatever there is. \usepackage{geometry} > I have included a minimal latex file below to reproduce the problem. > The bug report is marked as important, because it would be if this > is the case for all users of nonstandard page sizes. You do not understand LaTeX, please. The a5paper option sets up \page* parameters in TeX, but that does not mean that the corresponding \pdfpage* parameters are set. That is your duty, think about printing that document on a bigger paper for cutting it by adding crop marks. A simple *google*that*for*me* would have brought you to the TeX FAQ: http://www.tex.ac.uk/cgi-bin/texfaq2html?label=papergeom Closing this bug.
