Package: gringotts
Version: 1.2.8-8
Severity: important
Versions of gringotts after 1.2.8-8 load very slowly and are very
unresponsive. Example (timed with a stop watch):
Gringotts 1.2.8-8
- Load Time: 4 sec
- Menu Response Time: Instantaneous
Gringotts 1.2.8+1.2.9-pre1-7
- Load Time: 51 sec
- Menu Response Time: 8 sec
"Load time" is the time between launching gringotts and the splashscreen
disappearing. "Menu Response Time" is the time between clicking on a
menu entry and the corresponding menu dropping down. Times are rounded
to nearest second.
To test, I launched the application once, waited for it to finish,
closed it, then launched it again, timing this second launch. After the
second launch finished I timed the menu responsiveness.
This behavior also occurs in the most current version in Sid, using
latest gringotts and libgringotts1 packages (though I don't have timing
info for that version).
