Looks like a 'bashism' somewhere; this kludge allowed 'adjtimex' to install:
# link '/bin/sh' to bash
rm /bin/sh ; ln -s /bin/bash /bin/sh
apt-get -f install
# link '/bin/sh' back to dash
rm /bin/sh ; ln -s /bin/dash /bin/sh
I'm not sure where the 'bashism' is though.
Hope this helps...
