With etcinsvk, a commit message would look something like this:

  r268: root | 2010-04-15 11:00:13 +0200

  Modified lvm/backup/metavg. Added libvirt/qemu/admin.xml
  lvm/archive/metavg_00026.vg. Removed lvm/archive/metavg_00016.vg.

Including the names of the files changed make it very easy to find
relevant change from the commit log. Please change the commit message
of etckeeper to include file names, at least for the daily
autocommits.

Happy hacking,

Closing as there was no objection to my suggestion to use git log
