Package: gnomad
Version: 2.8.12-2
Priority: wishlist
I have an MTP device (Creative Zen) and Gnomad2 does not access it when I
startup the application, it just says "No jukeboxes found in USB bus" but,
sure enough, the device is plugged in and listed at /proc/bus/usb/devices.
So there is no clear indication as to why Gnomad2 doesn't find it.
After stumbling into http://amarok.kde.org/wiki/Media_Device:MTP I figured it
might be because the user I was running the application with was not in the
'plugdev' group. I added the user and sure enough, everything started
working as expected.
I think that Gnomad should provide hints to the real issue in its error
dialog box, and this needs should be documented in Gnomad'2 README.Debian
(which doesn't currently exist)
At the very least, the README.Debian file should confirm the need to add
users to the 'plugdev' group (staticly? through an udev rule?) for MTP
devices to work. Could you please add that?
Regards
Javier
