Package: apt-proxy
Version: 1.9.36.3+nmu1
Severity: normal

Hi,

After installing apt-proxy and configuring it in several client's
sources.list, I noticed (by the speed the packages downloaded) that the
proxy was re-downloading several packages all the times.

After checking the logs I saw this kind of entry for those packages:

2008/08/07 14:30 CEST [-] [verify] cache file verification FAILED for
/var/cache/apt-proxy/XXXX.deb: dpkg failed

So I turned verbosity to its maximum and found that dpkg was run with
'--fsys-tarfile', and running that on my system failed with:

$/usr/bin/dpkg --fsys-tarfile /var/cache/apt-proxy/XXXX.deb > /dev/null
dpkg-deb (subprocess): data: failed to exec lzma -dc: No such file or directory
dpkg-deb: subprocess <decompress> returned error exit status 2

dpkg Suggests lzma, but without it apt-proxy will fail to verify the
cached packages and will keep downloading them for each petition.

Please, add a Depends on lzma (since that (dpkg) functionality is
required by apt-proxy, or at least add some comment in the docs to it.

Thanks,

Alberto
