hi

it seams, that pdftops is creating invalid ps-files.
the postscript files ALWAYS contains:

/setpagedevice where {
pop 3 dict begin
/PageSize exch def
/ImagingBBox null def
/Policies 1 dict dup begin /PageSize 3 def end def { /Duplex true def } if
currentdict end setpagedevice } { pop pop } ifelse

this forces a xerox postscript printer to use duplex-printing; is does not
matter if the duplex will be disabled later in the ps-file by the
configuration of the ppd file/cups.

you can also read about this problem here (same problem with LATEX)
http://www.wiwi.uni-bielefeld.de/~spitta/download/Sammelanleitung.pdf

sorry it's german; page 7.
it means translated somethink like that:

"some versions of the program pdftops create invalid PS-files, which are
making troubles then doing >make print<. this files contain the code in the
header"

the workaround for the problem with latex is to remove this lines from the
header in the PS file.

i've tested it, and it works perfect.
so for me i've just removed this line from the sourcecode of pdftops (xpdf)
and now there is no more problem with my xerox printers.

greetings from austria,
johannes

Since xpdf uses poppler and do not provide programs such as
/usr/bin/pdftotext, I am closing all related bugs on xpdf-utils.
