Package: xscreensaver
Version: 5.05-3
Severity: important
When I use xscreensaver-command -lock to lock the screen xscreensaver
(run with -verbose) gives this message:
xscreensaver: 15:20:19: LOCK ClientMessage received; activating and locking.
xscreensaver: 15:20:19: 0: locked mode switching.
xscreensaver: 15:20:19: blanking screen at Fri Aug 15 15:20:19 2008.

xscreensaver: 15:20:29: 0: ungrabbing mouse (was 0x1a6).
xscreensaver: 15:20:29: 0: ungrabbing keyboard (was 0x0).
xscreensaver: 15:20:29: unable to grab keyboard or mouse! Blanking aborted.
xscreensaver: 15:20:29: awaiting idleness.
During the ~10 seconds that this is happening I'm unable to use the
keyboard or mouse, but the display remains unchanged.
Presumably related is this:
% xscreensaver-command -exit
xscreensaver: 15:24:01: EXIT ClientMessage received.
[1] + 6288 done xscreensaver -no-capture-stderr -no-splash -verbose
xscreensaver-command: no response to command.
Here xscreensaver (run under job control here) exits almost immediately,
but there is a several second delay before xscreensaver-command gives up
waiting for a response.
I'm not really sure what triggered the problem -- I was stupid enough to
do a major kernel upgrade, move the computer in question physically, and
change the driver for my wireless, all in the space of a day. So the
fact that I'm also experiencing intermittent wireless problems is
probably unrelated (since I have this problem with xscreensaver even
when I'm not having network problems), but I thought I'd mention it all
the same.
