I'm guessing that the problem is because .gdbinit is a dotfile.

Almost certainly, you'll need to adjust your {arch}/=tagging-method
file. By default, files with this name will match several patterns,
including junk, precious, etc.
It looks like tla_load_dirs did the right thing by adding the file, but
tla doesn't "see" it because it's been told to ignore it because of your
=tagging-method file.
