Package: mdadm
Version: 2.6.7-3
Severity: wishlist

In case of `mdadm' and RAID at all I'm a stupid person and my english
isn't that great either.

It would be very nice if output of `mdadm' is more clear in case of a
broken array.

Currently the only hint you get from `mdadm' that your array is broken
is this:

# mdadm -A /dev/md0 /dev/sdc1 /dev/sdd1 /dev/sde1 /dev/sdf1
mdadm: /dev/md0 assembled from 1 drive and 3 spares - not enough to start the
array.

It could say something like `Your array is broken, you can't use it anymore'

# mdadm -Q --detail /dev/md0
 Raid Level : raid10
 State : clean, degraded
 Active Devices : 1
 Spare Devices : 3

And again the State: could be in this case definately `broken'

The FAQ on question 18 lists the numbers how many disks can fail if you
have luck for a RAID-10,
in these cases there could be a `maybe broken' displayed.

This was fixed by an upstream commit[1] which is part of mdadm 3.1.2.
Please feel free to reopen if necessary.
