On my system faxmail printed error messages because it could not find some
font metrics files. This includes a bogus error message I already reported
at HylaFAX' bugzilla http://bugs.hylafax.org/show_bug.cgi?id=925
The real cause of the problem is a wrong FontMap path in hyla.conf.
FontMap:
/usr/share/ghostscript/8.70/lib:/usr/share/ghostscript/8.62/lib:/usr/share/gs-esp/8.15/lib:/usr/share/gs-esp/7.07/lib:/usr/share/gs/6.53
On my system there is no Fontmap in /usr/share/ghostscript/8.70/lib
but in /usr/share/ghostscript/8.70/Resource/Init.
This Fontmap.GS is not complete. An additional (or the correct?) Fontmap
file is in /var/lib/defoma/gs.d/dirs/fonts.
That's why I changed the value to this:
FontMap:
/var/lib/defoma/gs.d/dirs/fonts:/usr/share/ghostscript/8.70/Resource/Init:/usr/share/ghostscript/8.70/lib:/usr/share/ghostscript/8.62/lib:/usr/share/gs-esp/8.15/lib:/usr/share/gs-esp/7.07/lib:/usr/share/gs/6.53
(I don't know if /var/lib/defoma/gs.d/dirs/fonts should be added to FontPath
as well. On my system all .pfb files in /var/lib/defoma/gs.d/dirs/fonts
are links to /usr/share/fonts/type1/gsfonts, only some Vera*.ttf files are
located in /usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-bitstream-vera.)
