Package: nvidia-glx-legacy-173xx

After I built the new kernel-module for 173.14.125-2, installed it and then
went to install the new glx package synaptic wanted to install seven
additional packages that I did not want nor need. I don't use dkms, nor do I
want to. I do not need the nvidia-kernel-dkms package, it is only for
GeForce 6xxx and newer cards, I have a GeForce 5xxx series, hence the use of
the legacy-173xx packages. The same is true for the nvidia-vdpau-driver,
which will provide the 195 series driver - useless for me and would mess up
my system. The other three packages it wanted to install where the kernel
headers packages. Linux-headers-2.6-686, linux-headers-2.6.32-5-686, and
linux-headers-2.6.32-5-common. I am running a custom built kernel using
version 2.6.32-15 and do not need older versions of the headers mucking up
my system. I just needed to install the new version of
nvidia-glx-legacy-173xx and since I had already installed the new kernel
module, I had to download and install the glx package using my file manager,
xfe. I usually use synaptic to do upgrades and installs, and have it set up
the way I want it and didn't want to mess around changing it so I could just
install the single package. Why did you change this to draw in all the new
packages? They would just have messed up my system and are unnecessary,
unless you use dkms and have that kernel version running. Thank you.

* Synchronize packaging with nvidia-graphics-drivers 195.36.31-4:
- Remove /emul directories if empty after removing old NVIDIA files in
the nvidia-glx-legacy-173xx-ia32 postinst.
- debian/*.postinst(configure): abort early if DPKG_MAINTSCRIPT_PACKAGE is
not set (usually if called from dpkg-reconfigure, see #560317).
- nvidia-glx-legacy-173xx{,-ia32}: print warning in postinst if unknown
/usr/lib{,32}/libGL.so.*.* exist.
- nvidia-glx-legacy-173xx: depend on xorg-video-abi-6.0 as suggested by
Xorg maintainers.
- nvidia-kernel-legacy-173xx-source: lower Recommends:
nvidia-glx-legacy-173xx to Suggests to avoid pulling
nvidia-kernel-legacy-173xx-dkms into the system before the user had a
chance to build a module. (Closes: #590221)
- Add new patch 2.6.36-ioctl.patch to fix module build for kernel 2.6.36.
- Add changelog entries missing due to concurrent development: 1.0.9625-2
(experimental), 1.0.9625-1 (experimental) and 1.0.7174-4 (unstable).
- Stop shipping libGL.so symlinks and handling alternatives involving
them.
- Stop shipping NVIDIA's copy of the OpenGL headers, depend on
libgl1-mesa-dev instead. NVIDIA will stop distributing the headers
starting with the 260.xx release and recommends to use the official
ones.
- Transition from nvidia-glx-legacy-173xx-dev directly to libgl1-mesa-dev.
- Drop the libgl1-nvidia-legacy-173xx-dev package (and stop shipping
libXvMCNVIDIA.a).
- Add myself to Uploaders.
