Package: proftpd
Version: 1.2.10-4
Severity: wishlist

As AuthPamAuthoritative is depricated now, wouldn't it be a good idea, to
detect this setting during installation and put the section from README.Pam
below it?
Or ask for a change by debconf?

*****
# Setting this directive to on will cause authentication to fail
# if PAM authentication fails. The default setting, off, allows
# other modules and directives such as AuthUserFile and friends
# to authenticate users.
#
# AuthPAMAuthoritative  on
#
# Note that as of 1.2.10rc1, the AuthPAMAuthoritative directive has been
# deprecated.  In 1.2.10, the alternative way to make mod_auth_pam be
# an "authoritative" module is by using the AuthOrder directive.  For example:
#
#   AuthOrder mod_auth_pam.c* mod_auth_unix.c
#
# Note the "*" suffix on the mod_auth_pam.c name, which indicates that that
# module is to be treated authoritatively.

AuthOrder mod_auth_pam.c* mod_auth_unix.c

****

Cheers,
Thomas

The AuthPAMAuthoritative directive is not more supported, and obsolete
since 1.2 days. It is time to close this report because users' configuration
are now for sure up-to-date. Taking it open is pointless.
