On fresh install of monit, "ps -ef | grep monit" do nothing and that doesn't
work ... if i made a simple "apt-get install apache2" juste after install i can
check http://localhost/ and that say : That work !
For monit in my opinion, we can work to have a monit daemon juste after
install. To do that, i think we must propose a default /etc/monit/monitrc with
that :
set daemon 120 # check services at 2-minute intervals
with start delay 240 # optional: delay the first check by 4-minutes
# (by default check immediately after
monit start)
set logfile syslog facility log_daemon
set mailserver localhost # all default debian box has a MTA :-)
set alert root
include /etc/monit/conf.d/*
and startup=1 in /etc/monit/monitrc
with that and bug #583127 after an "apt-get install apache2 monit" we will have
an apache2 monitored by monit ;-)
