after joining) will display with corrupted characters in /names and nick

Given that 0.8.15 had a fair amount of encoding related fixes, and that
the mentioned upstream bug is closed for a while now (actually a
revision prior to the tag for the release) I guess this is something
fixed in that version, so closing it versioned.
