Package: nvidia-kernel-source
Version: 190.42-1
Severity: wishlist

On upgrade nvidia-kernel-source could check if nvidia module is listed in
/etc/initramfs-tools/modules and call update-initramfs if so.

Isn't there some functionality to trigger a initramfs update? There are so
many hook and postinst possibilities for kernel, initrd and modules ...
otherwise shouldn't this be more the task of dh_installmodules or something
related?

See the README.Debian in nvidia-glx for a better solution: properly increasing
the timeouts. kdm is fixed (i.e. timeout increased) in squeeze and gdm was
removed from unstable after squeeze release.

see above, calling update-initramfs should not be the duty of the module
package (or should be automatically generated code from dh_installmodules).
Also how would this work with dkms?

I'm closing this now as wontfix as this is a) a bad hack for the timeout
problem working only in a few cases and b) not useful to have nvidia.ko in
the initrd IMHO.
