Package: xen-tools
Version: 4.2-1
Severity: normal
Tags: lenny patch
Small changes needed to install squeeze in lenny's dom0.
/usr/lib/xen-tools/debian.d/20-setup-apt - append case for squeeze where
already is for lenny
/etc/xen-tools/xen-tools.conf -- append squeeze s supported distribution via
Debootstrap.
In directory /usr/lib/xen-tools create symlink squeeze.d to debian.d
Of course there are some drawbacks of using xen-tools from lenny to install
squeeze.
For example one cannot use ext4 due to the lack of ext4 in 2.6.26 kernel.
(other parameters, like disk/swap sizes in xen-tools.conf are more than
sufficient to install squeeze,
so do not need to be changed.)
Support for this will not only allow easier testing, but also allow for
smoother transition
when upgrading large xen installations (sometimes it is better to reinstall
domU,
than perform dist-upgrade inside it).
After xen-create ends, one only needs to eventually check if kernel is
available
outside of domU. This can be done using pygrub or by just installing (or safer
extracting) squeeze xen kernel in lenny.
I tested this changes and they works perfectly :)
