Package: base
Severity: important
Strange issue
DNS resolution is working fine for basic commands like ping and dig.
Impossible to surf with iceweasel or lynx (cannot resolv name).
Impossible to use icedove (impossible to find mail server)
It was a bit better under google chrome but still randomly broken
::my resolv.conf
domain home
search home
nameserver 192.168.1.1
::my host.conf
order host,bind
multi on
I have this issue with wifi and wired access.
Everything is working fine under Microsoft Windows
I tried with WICD and classic /networking/interfaces conf
if I edit resolv.conf and use a public IP for the nameserver it works
I found somebody with the same issue in switzerland
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=565599
::router type
Motorola Netopia 7647-47 VDSL Modem
Firmware : 7.8.6r13
This firmware is customized for my provider (Swisscom)
Thanks

Hi there,
This doesn't look like a bug in Debian, I'd think your wifi router does
DNS not very well. Try Google's nameservers in your resolv.conf and see
if this fixes the problem.
Thanks!
