Severity: important

Hi,

I'm tempted to call it a serious bug since it sounds like a trivial
portability bug, but that's your call (since it's not technically a
regression).

Your package FTBFS on those archs (alpha, hppa, mips*, sparc), with
something similar to:
| dh clean
| dh_testdir
| dh_auto_clean
| This module only works on linux
| dh_auto_clean: python2.5 setup.py clean -a returned exit code 1
or:
| dh clean
| dh_testdir
| dh_auto_clean
| running clean
| 'build/lib.linux-mips-2.6' does not exist -- can't clean it
| 'build/bdist.linux-mips' does not exist -- can't clean it
| 'build/scripts-2.6' does not exist -- can't clean it
| This module only works on linux
| dh_auto_clean: python setup.py clean -a returned exit code 1

If you know the value of python's sys.platform on these platforms, it is a trivial bug. I have no access to any of the above platforms however, so it is less than trivial for me. If you could provide this information, I will fix this asap.

Thanks for your bugreport.

Sure.

linux2-alpha, linux2-mips, and linux2-sparc for alpha, mips, and sparc. Probably likewise for the others.

Since Python 2.6, sys.platform is 'linux2' (without any suffix) on all Linux architectures. Python 2.5 is not a supported version anymore, so your package has been built correctly:

https://buildd.debian.org/status/fetch.php?pkg=python-prctl&arch=sparc&ver=1.1.1-1&stamp=1304519663
https://buildd.debian.org/status/fetch.php?pkg=python-prctl&arch=mipsel&ver=1.1.1-1&stamp=1305088525
https://buildd.debian.org/status/fetch.php?pkg=python-prctl&arch=mips&ver=1.1.1-1&stamp=1304701530

Therefore, I'm closing this bug.
