Debian php-compat package in Squeeze and newer releases is based on upstream
version 1.6.0a2 which contains a bug in str_ireplace function:
http://pear.php.net/bugs/bug.php?id=15698
This bug makes str_ireplace unusable (function always returns empty string).
Upstream fixed this on 2009-01-21, the fix is included in upstream version
1.6.0a3 (which also fixes several other issues).
Debian package should probably be updated to this version in Squeeze and above.
Lenny package is based on stable 1.5.0 version and is not affected.
