Package: fontconfig-config
Version: 2.5.0-2
Severity: wishlist
Hi,
Currently fontconfig-config has a Depends on ttf-dejavu | (various other
TTF font packages). Would it be possible to downgrade that to a
Recommends? The Depends results in ttf-dejavu-core + ttf-dejavu-extra +
defoma being pulled in (8.5 MB total) via indirect dependencies on
buildds and in pbuilder, which is unneeded and wastes bandwidth, buildd
time, etc.
Since Recommends are now installed by default by both apt-get and
aptitude (not sure about dselect, but how many people still use it?)
this change shouldn't cause much trouble for users.
Anyway, feel free to close the bug if you disagree. Thanks for considering.
best regards,

This bug has been addressed for some time by only depending on
ttf-dejavu-core instead of ttf-dejavu. Note that package fontconfig does
need some fonts to be installed, or you should depend on package
libfontconfigX instead.
