Hi,
The file lists provided under /debian/indices/files do not list Release
and Release.gpg for Squeeze, resulting in a broken Squeeze mirror.
The file lists were advertised as a way to easily build a partial or
typical or full mirror by aj in [1] (d-d-a) back when the mirror split
stuff happened. I've been using them for some time now, and my
experience so far has been mostly good.
However, there are several issues with the lists, ranging from minor to
painful, e.g.:
- minor: the lists include files that are no longer pushed out to
mirrors, like overrides for sarge and some others; causes rsync to
exit non-zero, which isn't nice :/
- painful: whatever happened when Etch was removed from the mirrors,
see my report from back then; caused dozens of GB of unwanted files
appearing on the mirror (& associated wasted bandwidth)
- annoying: this issue (breaks d-i installs)
To date, it looks like there's a database somewhere that needs a little
cleaning up and possibly a small patch to fix the Release files issue at
hand and everything should be back in order.
The file lists have been a great improvement for partial mirrors, so I
hope you can find some time to fix them up for good :)
Thanks,
JB.

AFAICT, Release{,.gpg} files for Squeeze are now listed.
Feel free to reopen this bug in case you see this issue again.
