Hi

We are considering to remove kaffe from the repositories, since upstream is
dead, it lacks active maintaince from our side and we have free alternatives.

preferably you should switch to one of the following packages:
 * default-jdk
 * default-jre
 * default-jre-headless

You should use default-jdk if you need to compile java-files into class-files
(or/and copy said files into a jar-file). Usually this is only used as a
build-depend(-indep).

default-jre and default-jre-headless should be used when you need to run java
programs (with and without X11 support respectively).

You may want to consider using java1-runtime(-headless) or/and
java2-runtime(-headless) as alternative to default-jre(-headless) in a
Depends to allow alternative java-implementations instead only openjdk/gcj[1].

If you have any questions or troubles regarding this change; feel free to email
me.

~Niels

[1] Depending on the platform default-jre(-headless) currently provides
openjdk6 or
gcj.
