Package: racoon
Version: 1:0.7.3-12
Severity: important
Hello,
I am unable to use hash algorithm sha512 and authentication
algorithm hmac_sha512 with Racoon and either of
linux-image-2.6.32-3-686
linux-image-2.6.32-5-686
Any combination of algorithm and kernel image reports
racoon: ERROR: Not supported.
racoon: ERROR: /etc/racoon/hemming.conf:35: ";" algorithm SHA512 not
supported by the kernel (missing module?)
racoon: ERROR: fatal parse failure (1 errors)
("hemming.conf" is brought in by an include directive.)
The kernel module "sha512_generic" is never autoloaded, but manual
insertion still leaves the same failure. Identical outcome is observed
with sha384, but sha256 is full functional. Is it the manual page
racoon.conf(5) that is falling behind recent kernels, or has the
crypto API changed in recent kernels, without being conveyed to the
source distribution?
Since sha256 works with kernel module sha256_generic, my best guess is
that the replacement of "sha512.ko" with "sha512_generic.ko" in todays
Linux kernel somehow has changed the symbol table. I have been struggling
to resolve this for well over a month by now, and I have really not got
any further than these remarks are indicating.
Best regards,
Mats Erik Andersson, DM
