Severity: important

This package needs days of build time on some build machine, I don't think this
is good use of Debian resources. The issue is that the generated swig files are
not split into smaller chunks, and the low memory (<= 1GB) machines spend a hell
of time just swapping. Please split the swig generated files, even on ix86, so
that you can test it.

There is no need to build the swig wrappers with -O3, even on ix86, what do you
want to optimize there?
