package: libavcodec53 (and others)
after a recent upgrade, totem could no longer play a .WMV file; it
would freeze after what seemed to be a single frame. the culprit
appeared to be an upgrade of codecs:
ii libavcodec53 5:0.9-0.2
Library to encode decode multimedia streams - runtime files.
ii libavdevice53 5:0.9-0.2
FFmpeg device handling library.
ii libavfilter2 5:0.9-0.2
FFmpeg filter library.
ii libavformat-dev 5:0.9-0.2
Development files for libavformat.
ii libavformat53 5:0.9-0.2
FFmpeg file format library.
ii libavutil-dev 5:0.9-0.2
FFmpeg avutil devel files - devel files.
ii libavutil51 5:0.9-0.2
FFmpeg avutil library - runtime files
i rolled these back to:
ii libavcodec53 5:0.8.7-0.0
Library to encode decode multimedia streams - runtime files.
ii libavdevice53 5:0.8.7-0.0
FFmpeg device handling library.
ii libavfilter2 5:0.8.7-0.0
FFmpeg filter library.
ii libavformat-dev 5:0.8.7-0.0
Development files for libavformat.
ii libavformat53 5:0.8.7-0.0
FFmpeg file format library.
ii libavutil-dev 5:0.8.7-0.0
FFmpeg avutil devel files - devel files.
ii libavutil51 5:0.8.7-0.0
FFmpeg avutil library - runtime files
and totem was able to play .WMV files with no problems.
