Per http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2011/10/msg00373.html, I am seeking
the removal of automake1.7. Please fix by doing one of the following:
1. Not build depending on automake in the first place. It may be
completely unnecessary, or you can ship the generated Makefile.in's in
the diff.gz. You will never have to deal with these transition
problems again.
2. Upgrade to the latest version of automake, automake1.11, to stave
off obsolescence.
3. Use dh-autoreconf.

thank you for your report which I did not receive via mail for some
reason. I kindly ask that you please don't report tickets that are
already open and worked on. I'm surprised to see that as a DD you did
not look through the list of open tickets first. Your particular issue
is already being dealt with in bug 549137. I also ask for some
patience, what you request is something I've previously attempted but
was only partially successful. isdnutils has a lot of legacy stuff and
I can't fix them all at the same time, I did manage to remove the
automake1.4 dependency in 1:3.9.20060704+dfsg.2-10, though. Any help
for bug 549137 and others is always more than welcome.
