As can be seen, it contains unclean .o files, resulting
executables:
id3v2: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV),
dynamically linked (uses shared libs), for GNU/Linux 2.6.18,
not stripped
and some git repository. This has nothing to do with the
original source.

If those executables aren't used in the resulting binary package I
don't see how you consider this a serious bugreport. If upstream ships
it that way and if its free software, there is no need to diverge from
upstream.

Doesn't it? It is the exactly same tarball that you can download from
the upstream site.
