Package: x-ttcidfont-conf
Version: 13

x-ttcidfont-conf generates unnecessary alias entries in fonts.alias file.
I created a file /etc/defoma/hints/ttf-caslon.hints with the following
contents:

category truetype
begin /usr/share/fonts/truetype/atf/casl540n.ttf
  Family = Caslon_540
  FontName = Caslon540-Roman
  Encoding = Unicode
  Location = English Turkish
  Charset = ISO8859-1 ISO8859-9 CP1252
  GeneralFamily = Roman
  Weight = Medium
  Width = Variable
  Shape = Upright
  Alias = Caslon-Roman
  Foundry = ATF
  Priority = 20
  Transform = NotBoldize NotSlant
  X-ElementAlias = family=caslon
end

After running
"/usr/bin/defoma-font -t reregister-all /etc/defoma/hints/ttf-caslon.hints"
The following entries are created in fonts.alias:

"-atf-caslon-medium-r-normal--8-80-0-0-p-80-iso8859-1" \
 "-atf-caslon 540-medium-r-normal--8-80-0-0-p-0-iso8859-1"
"-atf-caslon-medium-r-normal--10-100-0-0-p-100-iso8859-1" \
 "-atf-caslon 540-medium-r-normal--10-100-0-0-p-0-iso8859-1"
"-atf-caslon-medium-r-normal--12-120-0-0-p-120-iso8859-1" \
 "-atf-caslon 540-medium-r-normal--12-120-0-0-p-0-iso8859-1"
"-atf-caslon-medium-r-normal--14-140-0-0-p-140-iso8859-1" \
 "-atf-caslon 540-medium-r-normal--14-140-0-0-p-0-iso8859-1"
"-atf-caslon-medium-r-normal--16-160-0-0-p-160-iso8859-1" \
 "-atf-caslon 540-medium-r-normal--16-160-0-0-p-0-iso8859-1"

These entries are all unnecessary. Also, these entries contains incorrect

x-average-width field that may render incorrect font shape.

Strictly speaking, only the following entry is needed:

"-atf-caslon-medium-r-normal--0-0-0-0-p-0-iso8859-1" "-atf-caslon
540-medium-r-normal--0-0-0-0-p-0-iso8859-1"

I think x-ttcidfont-conf should be fixed so that
only the following form of alias lines should be generated:

"-atf-caslon-medium-r-normal--0-0-0-0-p-0-iso8859-1" "-atf-caslon
540-medium-r-normal--0-0-0-0-p-0-iso8859-1"
