Package: aptitude
Version: 0.2.15.5-2
Severity: minor
I would assume that I am not the only one starting aptitude through
sudo. The problem is that upon exiting, aptitude unlinks
~/.aptitude/config and writes a new copy. However, because of sudo,
this is relative to the calling user's homedirectory, not root's.
Thus, one ends up with a root-owned config file under a user
homedirectory. In combination with a 077 umask, this makes it
impossible for the calling user to call aptitude subsequently.
Furthermore, when the config files are managed by subversion (as in
my case), it becomes impossible to sync them with the repository.
I suggest thus to not unlink the config file but to simply truncate
it instead.
Thanks,
