Package: ftp.debian.org
Severity: normal
Hi,
I'm not really the maintainer, but I tried to take over the package last year
as part of my efforts to maintain scim in Debian. But eventually I had to
realize the futility of that attempt.
* upstream is dead as the previous maintainer mentioned when orphaning the
package
* the package has RC bugs (easy enough to fix, though)
* nobody working on KDE4/QT4 support (#604381)
Regards
Rolf

retitle 642371 RM: scim-bridge -- RoQA, no upstream, outdated
thanks
scim is sta(b)le and eventually on the way out, I think nobody denies
that. Calling for its removal when it still has five times the user base
of ibus and that user base is actually growing faster than that of ibus
is plain nuts and premature in my opinion. I had previously received
incorrect information regarding the impact of things such as Gnome3 on
scim and was gullible enough to file a removal request for scim-bridge.
I no longer think that's necessary or desirable and thus have stepped up
my efforts to take over this package once again. At present I'm
actually not a user of scim-bridge myself but would like to keep my
options open and thus believe it would be advisable to have it remain in
the archive. My work is available in git as always.
