Package: mysql-server
Version: 4.0.24-10
Severity: normal
My mysql stopped working this morning. After an hour of investigation I found
the following in my daemon.log:
>Oct 5 10:58:43 tea mysqld[7477]: 051005 10:58:43 /usr/sbin/mysqld: unknown
>variable 'old_passwords=1'
I have not touched my.cnf as far as I can tell, and in /etc/mysql/my.cnf the
relevant part reads:
>#
># For compatibility to other Debian packages that still use
># libmysqlclient10 and libmysqlclient12.
>old_passwords = 1
So it seems that this has been broken during an apt-get upgrade.

Please update, there is no 4.0.x in Debian "unstable" anymore, after
an "apt-get update" you should be forced to upgrade to mysql-server-4.1.
bye,
