Package: liferea
Version: 1.6.4-1
Severity: normal
Sometimes I want to copy text out of an item I'm reading. When trying
to do this, I'll sometimes, with the input focus in the view of the
item I'm reading (and without really thinking) try to use the normal
Gnome shortcut for "select all", control-A. It would be harmless if
this failed to select all the text and did nothing, but it's quite
annoying that instead it makes liferea update all feeds -- both
because it initially freezes up while doing this (while I was
attempting to interact with it), and because it generates lots of
unnecessary CPU usage and network traffic while I was in the middle of
doing something.
Indeed, I have some no feeds that no long work (but where I still have
some items flagged), where I turned off automatic updates, including
one that is now passworded -- so pressing control-A also means that
after the initial freezing-up, a while later I get interrupted again
by a login box popping up on my screen!
Please consider disabling this unexpected use of control-A to launch
an application-specific action, when in other GTK+/Gnome programs it
means "select all".

In liferea 1.8.3, Control-A does "Select All", and "Update All" is now
Control-U instead, so this seems to be fixed.
