Package: splashy
Version: 0.3.2
Severity: important
I'm upgrading etch to lenny. First I get this:
Warning: Old themes directory moved to /etc/splashy/themes.old
Unpacking replacement splashy ...
dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/splashy_0.3.13-3_amd64.deb
(--unpack):
trying to overwrite `/etc/splashy/themes', which is also in package
splashy-themes
Processing triggers for man-db ...
Errors were encountered while processing:
/var/cache/apt/archives/splashy_0.3.13-3_amd64.deb
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
$ apt-cache policy splashy splashy-themes
splashy:
Installed: 0.3.2
Candidate: 0.3.13-3
Version table:
0.3.13-3 0
500 http://ftp.uk.debian.org lenny/main Packages
*** 0.3.2 0
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
splashy-themes:
Installed: 0.4
Candidate: 0.4
Version table:
*** 0.4 0
500 http://ftp.uk.debian.org lenny/main Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
Then, if I re-run apt-get dist-upgrade I get:
Preparing to replace splashy 0.3.2 (using .../splashy_0.3.13-3_amd64.deb) ...
/etc/splashy/themes.old already exist, please remove this directory or file
dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/splashy_0.3.13-3_amd64.deb
(--unpack):
subprocess pre-installation script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
/var/cache/apt/archives/splashy_0.3.13-3_amd64.deb
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
Then, if I rm -rf /etc/splashy/themes.old I get:
mv: cannot stat `/etc/splashy/themes': No such file or directory
dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/splashy_0.3.13-3_amd64.deb
(--unpack):
subprocess pre-installation script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
/var/cache/apt/archives/splashy_0.3.13-3_amd64.deb
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
Aside from the conflict (which isn't great), it should definitely behave well
with different combinations of /etc/splashy/themes* existing or not.
