Package: mozilla-thunderbird
Version: 0.8-2
Severity: normal
I deleted some mails from my Inbox (actually it's in Local Folders, being
shared by three POP3 accounts) and the view that shows the mails contained in
the folder showed a mail that had itself as a branch, and each child had that
same, until the same mail was present four times. This mail was there only once
originally. I made the mistake of removing the extra copies, then I closed TB,
restarted it, and the mail was fine, just once, but the unread mails counter
(both on the status bar and on the folders view) showed twice as many unread
mails. Actually I have 8 unread mails of the 18 in that folder. Every time I
restart TB I get 8 mails added to the unread mails counter and 18 to the total.
I tried moving the mails to a new folder and cleaning up the Inbox with mutt
(there were a lot of "invisible" mails, despite the fact that I had compacted
the folder from TB), but when I moved the original mails back to the Inbox,
everything started behaving as previously stated.
Mutt doesn't show anything wrong with the folder, and the unread and
total counters are correct. I tried rewriting the folder with Mutt, but
nothing happened. I think the problem is with the .msf file, as it
changes every time I restart TB; too bad it's incomprehensible (to me,
at least).
Exactly, that solved the problem. I still have the Inbox.msf file in
quarantine, in case somebody wants to check it.
