Package: mc
Version: 1:4.6.0-5
Severity: normal

Installing version 4.6.0-5 of mc:

copernicus:/home/brian# dpkg -i -B mc_4.6.0-5_i386.deb
dpkg: considering removing mc-common in favour of mc ...
dpkg: yes, will remove mc-common in favour of mc.

But /var/lib/dpkg/info/mc-common.list is left on the system. So

copernicus:/home/brian# dpkg --purge mc-common
(Reading database ... 81237 files and directories currently installed.)
Removing mc-common ...
Purging configuration files for mc-common ...

This removes the version of /etc/mc/mc.menu installed by mc. Is this
what is intended?

Brian.

Hi !

I close this bug since there's no way to fix it: it should be fixed in
mc-common but this package only exists in an old unsupported debian release.

Regards,
