I recently found out that the watch file for coreutils is out of date:
it looks for .tar.{gz,bz2,lzma} archives, but misses .tar.xz archives,
which upstream started using in February 2009 with coreutils 7.1.
Of course, this was no big deal, because they also offered .tar.gz, up until
about a year ago when they released coreutils 8.14 only as .tar.xz.
Am I wrong in suspecting that this is why coreutils came *into* the freeze
already four releases behind upstream?
Consider applying the attached patch to fix the watch file, though I'm
sure it's far too late to actually get a more recent release into Debian
7.0 :-(.
(Alternatively, you could drop the second line entirely and take the
compression-type alternative out of the URL regex.)
