Severity: important
I run Gnome via startx from console sessions. This usually works correctly, but
sometimes, Gnome-Shell occasionally hangs - it is completely unresponsive
after loading. I suspect a race condition somewhere.
It has been observed that the name of the user does not appear in the top
panel when this occurs. Although I am using Gnome-Orca and accessibility
support, the same issue has been noticed by other users of the machine who do
not have accessibility requirements and whose Gnome sessions are not
configured with accessibility enabled.
The system is debian Sid, kept up to date.
This problem first appeared when the system was updated from Gnome-Shell 3.2
to 3.4. I can investigate further as requested. Here are errors from my
~/.xession-errors that may be relevant.
(gnome-shell:12196): folks-WARNING **: Failed to find primary PersonaStore with
type ID 'eds' and ID 'system'.
Individuals will not be linked properly and creating new links between Personas
will not work.
The configured primary PersonaStore's backend may not be installed. If you are
unsure, check with your distribution.
