The top level makefile in linux sources define version_h := include/generated/uapi/linux/version.h and echo the new kernel version there so the old file remains out of date. conftest.h uses the kernel version heavily and some tests fail because of that. Specifically failing on #if LINUX_VERSION_CODE >= KERNEL_VERSION(3,6,0) for me.
